Fertility Support

Acupuncture addresses subtle imbalances which can lead to fertility problems.  It can help reduce stress that can inhibit fertility. Acupuncture can help increase the number of follicles produced either with medication or without. Additionally it can assist in thickening the endometrial lining and decrease side effects of reproductive assistance medications.

Numerous studies have shown that acupuncture can increase the efficacy of in-vitro fertilization.  A 2006 Study published in Fertility and Sterility concluded that Acupuncture significantly improves the reproductive outcome of IVF/ICSI, compared with no acupuncture. In a 2014 Cochrane Review of the role of acupuncture in women’s reproductive health concluded there is preliminary data indicating acupuncture may improve menstrual health and coping for women experiencing delays falling pregnant. There is experimental data showing that acupuncture can influence female reproductive functioning, although the actual mechanisms involved are not yet clarified. Further well-conducted clinical research would benefit our understanding of the usefulness of acupuncture to women’s health.
